Episode transcript

Zane [00:00:07] Hey everyone, we’ve got some special announcements to share with you on today's episode of In Unison!

Giacomo [00:00:13] Over the past three seasons of the In Unison podcast, we’ve had spectacular conversations with some of the finest talents in choral music from around the world. Just six months ago, our first season brought you the latest info on how choral directors were coping through COVID, and then we pivoted a bit and focused our efforts on how choral music has always been an agent for social change. And finally, in our latest season, we’ve been chatting with new composers, conductors, and musicians—lots of folks who are making waves in the choral music scene. Tons of great episodes with spectacular guests, released every week. Maybe we’re biased, but we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

Zane [00:00:46] So, that leads us to our First Special Announcement: We’ve made it official! In Unison has joined the San Francisco arts accelerator called Intersection for the Arts, and also formed our own LLC!

Giacomo [00:00:58] Yee-haw!

Zane [00:00:59] We’re ready to climb the next hill, write the next chapter, and continue to grow our community, along with you, our In Unison friends and audience. We’ll be bringing you updates soon, and yes, you'll see some fundraising requests to help support the next phase of our growth, but I tell you h’what, have we got some fun things in store!

Giacomo [00:01:17] That brings us to Special Announcement #2: To prepare for what’s next with Intersection for the Arts, we’re going to be taking a short summer break through mid-August. This will allow us to retool some parts of the podcast and to really focus in on what we want this show to be and how it can best serve our community.

Zane [00:01:33] We want to recommit ourselves to being a trusted resource for our friends in the choral community. As we begin to come back together for in-person rehearsals, yay!, (Giacomo: “woo-hoo”!) we want to make sure that In Unison is providing you with the resources you need to be vocally, musically, and organizationally prepared for a return to in-person rehearsals. We know everyone is at various stages of readiness to be back together, so we want to be here for you to help ease back into the ‘new normal’ - whatever that may be! We already have lots of ideas for segments and resources, but we also want to hear from you! What do you want to hear on the podcast? Who should we chat with? Should we play even more music? What about warm-up exercise ideas? Or exercises to improve vocal health? More guests? More reviews? We’re all ears, so please get in touch with us either via email at ideas@inunisonpodcast.com, or through any of our social media channels.

Giacomo [00:02:29] We’ve had an amazing time on this journey through our first three seasons, and we are SO glad y'all have come along with us for the ride. So that you won’t miss us during our brief summer break, we’ll be sharing some mini-episodes and fun things over the next few weeks, including releasing the Playlist of Joy, and a separate playlist of all the exceptional music we’ve had the pleasure of discussing over the past several months.  We’ll be sending out links to playlists on Spotify (and yes, I guess Apple Music too.

Zane [00:02:53] Hater. [laughs]

Giacomo [00:02:54] [Sighs & laughs] so that you can relive all the best hits of the past several months.

Zane [00:02:57] So if you haven’t done so already, make sure you head on over to our website, inunisonpodcast.com, sign up for our newsletter, that way you won’t miss any of these important updates. We’ll miss you! But we’ll be back soon. Keep the seats warm and the beers cold and we’ll be back before you know it!

Jaycie [00:03:13] Bye! See you soon!
